Since my trip to Ooze last week, I’ve been on a mission to find good risotto that’s both cheap and tasty. It only took me one try.
I give you: Gustosecco Pumpkin Risotto
I bought this risotto at Kennards after attending an event for the blog Domestic Sluttery. At £3.95 for the bag, I figured it was a pretty safe test. It’s your standard ready meal rice dish. Bag + water = dinner. But I always find a way to spice it up.
By adding a little bit of butter, a healthy squirt of sriracha, sea salt, prawns and a bit of goat cheese, this little dish was the best meal I’ve had in ages.
I spent my 4th of July watching An American in Paris, ooohing and ahhing in between bites. I paired it with a Chardonnay Semillon blend, and it was heaven. Can’t wait to have the leftovers for lunch tomorrow.
Gustosecco is a Dorset-based operation specialising in other dried foods including couscous, pilafs and rice puddings. Obviously you can buy their products at Kennards, but if you don’t make it out near Holborn, they sell their risottos online at the Bay Tree Food Company.
